The Write Now! online classes aim to compliment what students are already doing with their classroom teachers during the pandemic school experience. We enrich your child's writing education by providing lesson and guidance and then setting them free to write.

Online and In-Person Writing Instruction
Winter 2021

Creative Writer's Workshop - Wednesdays 3-4pm

In this writer's workshop, students get to write what they want to write. We teach writing lessons along the way, helping them craft the story they are working on. Each week, students have an opportunity to share their writing, and this is where the magic happens. Having a real and immediate audience gives purpose to the writing, and this sparks motivation for reluctant and excited writers alike. (Sharing is optional.) If a student gets a new idea and wants to abandon their current story and start a new one, they are free to do so. Often, a leap in quality happens when they start fresh, applying their learning from the beginning.

We begin by inspiring ideas and students get started right away. We then talk about the writing process, writer's block, organization, adding sensory details to bring your story alive, dialogue, punctuation, character and setting development, and whatever else the writers in that specific group need.
